Ah, yes, Lactantius. (page 21)
You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting to do this page.
The actual written notes I have for this part are; “took poison, ate dirt, went crazy.”
According to our good friend Lactantius, (see page 21) the following events transpired to lead to "the most horrible kind of death."
- Decided to commit suicide.
Maximinus Daia: I despair of finding any place for refuge.
- Gorged himself with food and large draughts of wine.
Maximinus Daia: Gonna die anyway, right?!
- Took poison. However, his system was cushioned by the copious amounts of food.
Maximinus Daia: Because clearly that's how these things work.
- Death took four days, during which time he ate dirt...
Maximinus Daia: Oh, look, there's a wall.
Banged head against wall...
Thus losing his eyes...
Maximinus Daia: I should have known this would happen!
- Saw a vision...
Maximinus Daia: That light! It must be Jeezus!
- Repented his sins...
Maximinus Daia: I probably shouldn't have ruined the life of that Christian girl who spurned me. Or killed all those people, even.
...And finally, 9. "Breathed out his guilty soul."
It must be noted that the author of this lovely little tale was a devout Christian, as well as a protege of Constantine, and Daia had been a fairly active persecutor of said Christians. Just saying.
