About this Strange WebComic
Emperors of Byzantium is drawn, written and created by Haefen.
This webcomic was inspired by the podcasts of Lars Brownworth, entitled “12 Byzantine Rulers”
————————————————————————————————————————-
What is Byzantium, you ask?
That’s a very complicated question. The short answer is: Crazy. The somewhat longer answer is: A period of Ancient Roman history that is after Caeser and includes the decline and fall of the Roman empire. Even longer: Read the comic.
So, is this all made up or what?
My goal with Emperors of Byzantium is to educate and entertain. That means that historical facts come first, hilarity second. Yes, all of the major facts in this comic are true, to the best of anyone’s knowledge. Names, dates, actions and so forth. But the emperors probably didn’t go prancing and yelling and cracking jokes. Stabbing and plotting, yes. Cavorting, no.
About Religion:
A major part of the Byzantine empire has to do with the rise of Christianity. I’m not actively trying to insult anyone, but there’s no real low that I wont stoop to to make a joke. Please try not to be offended, in this case or any other, if you are generally prone to that sort of thing. If you are, then this might not be the best webcomic for you.
